Memetica

Memetica is an arts company based in Melbourne’s inner west, led by artist Daniele Poidomani. Daniele is a community artist with over 20 years’ experience in giant puppetry, live performance, and installations. Daniele and Memetica’s work uses unique designs to imagine new worlds and their inhabitants; to construct impossibly real fictions; and to inspire wonder in children and adults alike.

Daniele Poidomani

Daniele has a background in cultural studies and decades of international experience running community workshops. He uses this experience to develop artwork that showcases the preciousness of culturally and linguistically diverse people’s contribution to Australian culture. Daniele’s first language is Italian, and he has a strong interest in words.

Daniele enjoys working with children to develop artwork, and believes in giving children space to lead the artistic process and outcome. In 2018-19 he worked with ArtPlay to develop two projects – Air Camp and Air Play, workshops where children build inflatables and use them to talk about important ideas. In 2020-21, he’ll be delivering work for children with Abbotsford Convent. Beyond Melbourne, Daniele has worked with children at Yunlin Storyhouse in Taiwan, Woodford Folk Festival, Taipei Children’s Festival, and Macao International Parade. Memetica treats children to be true collaborators, whose ideas and creativity are central to artwork.
